Public Sector

RAND provides services to government agencies around the world, including in the United States, Europe, the Middle East, and Asia. We also operate four federally funded research and development centers (FFRDCs) that assist the U.S. government with scientific research, analysis, and development.

春秋棋牌官方平台Our clients are at global, federal, and state and local levels.

Global Client Services

The world has become more complex and interconnected. As a result, decisionmakers, program managers, and administrators around the globe find themselves seeking answers to difficult questions, such as:

春秋棋牌官方平台Helping governments and NGOs improve health, security, and prosperity for nations, communities and individuals around the world

  • How can we develop public policies and programs that align with societal goals?
  • Which programmatic and infrastructure investments will have the greatest impact on public well-being?
  • Are the social, economic, educational, and environmental programs we support producing results?
  • How can we predict and plan for long-term population needs?

Throughout our long history, RAND's international work has spanned a wide range of disciplines, from economic and social policy to public health and security. Much of this work focuses on emerging challenges facing regions, governments, and NGOs around the world, such as arresting the spread of HIV/AIDS in sub-Saharan Africa, fostering public health collaboration in Southeast Asia, and anticipating future security requirements of the government in Afghanistan.

Helping federal agencies accomplish their missions and contribute to a more secure, healthier, and prosperous future

  • How can we operate more efficiently?
  • How can we best respond to congressional mandates or executive orders?
  • How can we deliver services to the public and constituent groups more effectively?
  • How can we prioritize mission goals in the face of limited resources?
  • Are the social, economic, educational, and environmental programs we have in place producing results?
  • How can we anticipate and plan for changes coming in the future?

RAND was created to help the federal government address policy challenges. Supporting State and Local Decisionmakers

春秋棋牌官方平台In the face of shrinking budgets, increased demand for basic services, and new challenges posed by environmental changes, state and local governments and community organizations across the United States must ask tough questions:

Helping states and localities make the best choices possible

  • How should we set policy priorities?
  • How can we deliver services more efficiently?
  • How can we improve the quality of public programs?
  • How can we manage our workforce more effectively?
  • What can research tell us about what works to address our unique set of issues?

春秋棋牌官方平台Beginning with its work in New York City in the early 1970s, RAND has partnered with communities across the United States, helping them come to grips with longstanding problems and new challenges posed by sudden change. For decades, RAND has used its analytic expertise to help states and localities diagnose policy problems, identify alternatives, and implement solutions.

Improving Access to Early Childhood Education

春秋棋牌官方平台Achievement gaps between disadvantaged and advantaged students in language arts and mathematics can form early, with some children trailing behind in school readiness measures when they enter kindergarten. Despite fiscal constraints, an increase in the funding for effective preschool programs can help to close these gaps and reduce costs later on.
